Snow pants still soggy after two rounds, a motor humming behind a frozen drum or a shriek that carries up two floors? A local technician comes out, tracks down whatever wore out and gets your loads drying in one go.

Gas or electric, nearly every dryer we open in town is fighting one of the six faults below. Each note lists the parts we test before anything else.
A coil with a break somewhere along it, a thermal fuse that popped or, for the gas models, an igniter glowing red while the burner stays dark.
A belt that has snapped, an idler pulley worn smooth or a drive motor too weak to get going.
Rollers flattened on one side, a rear bearing gone dry or felt glides worn through at the front.
Sheet residue glazing the sensor bars, or a thermostat that clicks off while the clothes are still damp.
A door switch that has stopped noticing the door, a worn-out start button or a control board getting no power.
A high-limit thermostat welded shut or a thermistor sending bad numbers. Keep it unplugged until we have tested it.
Dryer types we service
From the brand that came with the house to the one you picked out last spring, these names show up on our work orders every week.
A dryer that quits mid-load usually leaves a code on the screen. Every code we run into regularly is on the labels below.
Communication error
Parts inside are not talking to each other. Leave the dryer off for a full minute, then turn it on again.
Try this firstPower frequency error
The supply frequency reads as invalid. Start the cycle over, and if the code holds, give us a ring.
Try this firstVoltage error
The dryer is getting abnormal voltage. It needs its own circuit, with no extension cord in between.
Call a technicianElectronic control error
The electronic control has reported a fault that a restart does not clear.
Call a technicianHumidity sensor error
Wipe the sensor strips under the lint filter with a damp cloth and let them dry fully.
Try this firstNo heater current
The heater is not drawing any current, which often points to the outlet or house wiring.
Call a technicianPower supply error
The cord is delivering the wrong voltage, sometimes because two wires were swapped at the terminal block.
Call a technicianThermistor fault
One of the heat sensors has started sending readings that make no sense.

It spun and spun but the air stayed cold. Turned out the element had a break in it. Fixed during that very visit, and the towels are fluffy again.
You could hear our dryer squealing from the driveway. He put in new rollers along with a belt. These days I barely notice it running. Very tidy and friendly.
Loads kept stopping after fifteen minutes, still soaking. He cleaned the sensor strips, tested the board and explained how dryer sheets cause it. Full cycles ever since.
Before you book, a couple of common dryer stoppages are worth ruling out yourself.
